Why Custom Generation Isn't Free
Every custom mystery runs through a two-pass AI pipeline. The first pass plots the crime — motive, opportunity, timeline, who knows what. The second pass writes the cast, the clues, the evidence, and the reveal, and cross-checks them against the plot so the solution actually holds up.
That takes real compute. A single generation costs us around $2 in model calls. Plus payment processing, storage, and the occasional retry when a character's secret accidentally leaks into their public bio.
Hosting a pre-built mystery costs us almost nothing, so it stays free forever. Generating a new one from scratch every time does — so we charge for it. That's the whole logic.
